Djokovic Celebrates Next Gen ATP Finals Triumph Of His Protege Medjedovic

Djokovic Celebrates Next Gen ATP Finals Triumph Of His Protege Medjedovic

The future is bright for Serbian tennis as Hamad Medjedovic won the Next Gen ATP Finals, earning congratulations from Novak Djokovic.

The story of Hamad Medjedovic is a fascinating one. It has plenty of parallels with Novak Djokovic and is intrinsically linked with the Serbian legend. The beginning of Djokovic’s career was tough because tennis is an expensive sport, and he didn’t come from a privileged background.

Several people helped greatly with that, and eventually, everything worked out. Medjedovic has a similar story; his background is similarly modest, which made it pretty tough to keep working on tennis.

Seeing how talented the youngster was, Djokovic stepped in and started to pay for Medjedovic’s expenses so he could focus on his career. It was a huge thing for the young Serbian whose carer took off since then.

He was able to focus on the sport and, with Djokovic’s mentorship, slowly started to improve. The culmination of that came this week at the Next Gen ATP Finals, where he bested Top 50-ranked Arthur Fils to win the trophy.

It’s a hugely important thing for him because it earned him a huge paycheck, which will certainly help his career grow forward. It’s also great for confidence, as he’s a name to watch out for next year.

Furthermore, it’s great for Serbian tennis as he’s the best young player from that country with a very bright future. To say that Djokovic was proud was an understatement.

He celebrated Medjedovic’s win on social media by posting a photo of the young player with a caption that basically translates to ‘Let’s go’ in English.

Hameeeeee Idemoooo.

Let’s see what happens with Hame in 2024 and whether he can solidify himself in the top 100. With Djokovic in his corner as a mentor, he should have no problem getting all the relevant advice.
