Djokovic Commits to Adelaide Tournament Ahead of Australian Open

Novak Djokovic has confirmed his entry into the Adelaide International for the 2026 season, marking his intention to partake in at least one warmup tournament ahead of the Australian Open. The 36-year-old Serb boasts an impressive record in Adelaide, having never lost a match there with a perfect 10-0 record and securing two championship titles.

Djokovic’s inaugural victory in Adelaide dates back to 2007, where he showcased his talent by defeating Joachim Johansson in the semifinals and Chris Guccione in the final. His latest triumph came in 2023 when he overcame challenging opponents, including Denis Shapovalov, Daniil Medvedev, and Sebastian Korda, and notably saved a championship point during the final against Korda.

Following his 2023 success, Djokovic expressed deep gratitude for the local support, saying, “It definitely felt like playing at home, that’s for sure. The support that I’ve been getting in the last 10 days, I don’t think I’ve experienced too many times in my life – so thank you so much for everyone for coming out to every single match.”

The Adelaide International, part of the ATP 250 series, is scheduled for January 12-17, 2026, and serves as a key event leading into the Australian Open, which begins on January 18. Among the competitors joining Djokovic in Adelaide are rising stars like Jack Draper, Joao Fonseca, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Tommy Paul, promising a thrilling tournament ahead.
