Djokovic Downplays Impact of New Coach After Split with Ivanisevic

Novak Djokovic recently parted ways with his long-time coach Goran Ivanisevic, a move that garnered attention in the tennis world. The pair had a successful partnership for about six years, during which Djokovic won numerous major titles. Despite the unexpected timing of the split, tennis coach Rick Macci believes that a coaching change will not have a significant impact on Djokovic’s career.

In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Macci expressed his opinion that Djokovic is already in a strong position in his career and that a coach may not make a substantial difference at this stage. He compared Djokovic’s situation to that of Serena Williams, who continued to succeed even after bringing on a coach when she had already achieved significant success in her career.

Djokovic has since introduced a new interim coach, former Serbian doubles player Nenad Zimonjic. The two have a history of playing together in the Davis Cup, and Macci believes that their familiarity played a role in Djokovic’s decision. He emphasized the importance of subtle coaching cues in crucial moments in men’s tennis and expressed confidence that Djokovic has the potential to win more Grand Slam titles if he maintains his health.
