Novak Djokovic did not even lift his racket in the past fortnight but kept the World No. 1 ranking intact for a 424th week.
Djokovic, who withdrew from the Madrid Open, is guaranteed to be the top seed at Roland Garros. His closest rivals, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, could not make significant progress in bridging the gap at the top because of injuries.
Sinner, who pulled out ahead of his quarterfinal match in Madrid because of a hip injury, had a realistic shot of becoming No. 1 after the Italian Open if he won the two ATP 1000s on clay. But that dream will be delayed because he has not recovered enough time to play the event at home.
Alcaraz, for his part, has been thwarted with multiple injuries all season and almost fell outside the top three. But because Daniil Medvedev is also battling an injury, the top four will remain unchanged.
Alexander Zverev keeps his spot in fifth place. Andrey Rublev captured his second career Masters title at the Madrid Open and moved up two spots into sixth.
Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas each dip a spot to 7th and 8th, respectively. Hubert Hurakcz (9th) and Grigor Dimitrov (10th) complete the Top 10 list.
Taylor Fritz (13th) has established a gap between himself and Ben Shelton in the race to become the American No. 1 at the Olympics. After reaching the last four in Madrid, Fritz has a cushion of 410 points in the newly published rankings thanks to his consistent start to the clay swing.
Felix Auger-Alissime is the biggest mover into the Top 20 (20th) after a runner-up finish at the second ATP 1000 on clay in Madrid. The Canadian benefitted from three retirement/walkover wins to reach the final, where he lost to Rublev.
Jiri Lehecka rose to a career-high ranking of No. 23 after finishing in the semifinals in Madrid. At the weekend, Argentina’s Mariano Navone won the Cagliari Challenger, beating home player Lorenzo Musetti in the final. The 23-year-old soars ten spots to a new best ranking of No. 31.
If he remains a Top 32 player after Rome, he could make history by being seeded in his Grand Slam main draw debut at Roland Garros. Croatia’s Borna Coric fell outside the Top 50 after an inconsistent clay swing (55th).
But Jakub Mensik and Pavel Kotov are moving closer to entering the Top 60. Andy Murray has cascaded to 77th as he continues his recovery from ankle ligament damage.
Aslan Karatsev dropped 38 places to 86th, remaining winless in 2024. To track all your favorite ATP players, visit our rankings page to check the newly published rankings.
