Novak Djokovic is celebrating a 422nd week at the top of the ATP rankings, maintaining a healthy lead over those below him.
One of them is Jannik Sinner, who is tipped to replace the Serb in the top spot by the end of the French Open. With Djokovic withdrawing from Madrid, Sinner could realistically become the new World No. 1 by the end of the Italian Open in Rome.
Carlos Alcaraz remained in third place ahead of his title defense in Madrid. Daniil Medvedev stayed in fourth, while Alexander Zverev could not make up ground on the top four after a modest run at his home tournament in Munich.
There were no new entrants into the world’s Top 10, but Casper Ruud climbed above Stefanos Tsitsipas into sixth place by defeating the Greek to win his first ATP 500 title in Barcelona.
Andrey Rublev, Hubert Hurkacz, and Grigor Dimitrov complete the Top 10. Taylor Fritz regained his spot as the USA’s top-ranked man with a runner-up finish in Munich (13th). Ben Shelton, however, drops to 15th.
The Munich Open champion was Jan Lennard Struff, who won his first ATP title at 33. It was also a lovely way to gift himself with just four days remaining before his 34th birthday. Struff motored four spots to the 24th.
Cameron Norrie‘s quartefinal run in Barcelona took him back into the Top 30 (30th). Argentina’s Mariano Navone broke into the Top 50 for the first time (41st). He was a runner-up at the ATP 250 in Bucharest.
The Bucharest Open champion was Marton Fucsovics, who soared 29 spots to become World No. 53. Another player who competed in Romania this past week was Brazilian prodigy Joao Fonseca. The 17-year-old reached his second quarterfinal at tour level. He attains a new career-high ranking of No. 242.
