World No. 1 Novak Djokovic was tested before advancing to the third-round of the BNP Paribas Open on Saturday.

Defeating Aleksandar Vukic 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, the legendary Serb will next face Luca Nardi for a place in the fourth round.

Elsewhere, No. 7 seed Holger Rune, No. 12 seed Taylor Fritz, No. 13 seed Grigor Dimitrov and No. 14 Ugo Humbert all reached the third round.

On the women’s side, US Open winner Coco Gauff needed two hours and 17 minutes to advance past Clara Burel 2-6, 6-3, 7-6(4). Gauff will take on Lucia Bronzetti for a place in round four.

Osaka Moves On

Four-Time Major winner Naomi Osaka ousted No. 14 seed Liudmila Samsonova, but No. 5 seed Jessica Pegula wasn’t as lucky, losing in three sets to Anna Blinkova.

Other women’s winners on the day included No. 9 seed Maria Sakkari, No. 11 seed Daria Kasatkina, Emma Raducanu and Sloane Stephens.

Sunday’s action in Palm Springs will feature Iga Swiatek, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Caroline Wozniacki.
