Djokovic Shares Hilarious Story About Giving Ryder Cup Motivational Speech Dressed As Waiter

Djokovic Shares Hilarious Story About Giving Ryder Cup Motivational Speech Dressed As Waiter

Novak Djokovic isn’t known as the best golfer among tennis players, but he’s not bad, which is why he played at the 2023 Ryder Cup celebrities event.

Many tennis players like to play golf because it’s just a nice game to play. It provides a relatively harmless way for them to destress away from a tennis court but still scratch that competitive itch. Rafael Nadal is probably the best golfer among tennis players, as he grew up playing the sport.

Casper Ruud is a huge fan as well, and Novak Djokovic can hold his own which isn’t surprising. What isn’t he good a. He took part in the 2023 Ryder Cup playing for Europe in the celebrities game and it was just a very nice experience for the Serbian who never got the chance to play before but he still did well. It was actually one of the reasons why he accepted.

It was a great honour and a beautiful experience. I had never done that and that is why I accepted. It was still incredible. But wait for the rest. Luke wanted it to be a surprise. But it was more or less known a few days before. The journalists asked me, I told them that I had just come to play,” Djokovic said (via the Daily Express).

The whole situation was a bit comical because Djokovic dressed up for the occasion as a waiter, surprising the European team in the hotel. He told how they used make-up and made him appear overweight as part of the costume.

“With Luke, we thought up, in my room, my entrance onto the stage. We thought of the idea of a disguise. It took nearly an hour for me to get ready, with six or seven people with make-up artists, a hairdresser, a stylist. I dressed up like a waiter who brings room service, we put pillows on my stomach to make me fatter,” he added.

It was Rory McIlroy who first spotted me. He said: ‘Can I have a glass too?’ I re-traced my steps, I took the racket I had brought and started to hit volleys against the wall. Everyone applauded, it is a great surprise!
