Djokovic sheds light on his enigmatic ‘Violin Celebration’ following recent Wimbledon victory

'Djokovic Gets Unfair Treatment' In Rivalry With Nadal And Federer Says McEnroe

Novak Djokovic debuted a new celebration at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, and he explained where it came from after the match.

The Serbian player has had some unique celebrations in the past, despite not debuting them frequently. He showcased a few signature celebrations over the years, but at Wimbledon, he introduced a new one, mimicking playing the violin. Following his victory over Alexei Popyrin, Djokovic shared the origin of this new celebration.

This celebration was inspired by Djokovic’s daughter, Tara. She has been learning to play the violin, and they agreed that he would celebrate his win by mimicking playing the violin.

This heartwarming story highlights the strong bond between the 24-time major winner and his children. Djokovic has openly admitted that his children are a priority, and being away from them could potentially lead to an early retirement.

“That was for Tara. My daughter has been playing the violin for some time now, and we agreed that I would celebrate that way. Just like Usain Bolt, Ronaldo, Agassi, and others have their signature celebrations!”

“Players like Guga, Bellingham, Alcaraz, and myself have showcased interesting celebrations in the past. It adds a fun element to the sport.”

Djokovic enjoys the fun and creativity behind celebrations in sports, as seen when he mimicked Shelton’s celebration after defeating him at the 2023 US Open. He believes these celebrations add a unique flavor to the game.

“It’s enjoyable and intriguing to incorporate celebrations from other sports. It spreads quickly through networks and allows athletes to express themselves uniquely. Currently, I have the violin celebration.”
