Novak Djokovic will face Alex de Minaur for a spot in the 2024 Wimbledon Championships semi-final.
Despite all of these troubles in the weeks leading up to Wimbledon, the 24-time major winner is in the quarter-final. Getting there proved a bit troubling at times, but for the most part, he handled it better than expected, given he had surgery only recently.
He, too, was uncertain about how things might go, but this run has been certainly very good, all things considered. He had some minor issues, but his most recent match against Holger Rune was really dominant.
Head-to-head:
The two have played three times so far in ATP Tour-level matches, and the Serbian leads the H2H 2-1. Two of their matches were played this year, with de Minaur winning the first one at the United Cup 6-4, 6-4 and Djokovic winning the second one in Monte-Carlo 7-5, 6-4.
The Australian’s issue generally against the top names is a lack of clear weapons. His serve, forehand, and backhand are all solid. However, neither is a signature shot. His movement is very good, and his speed is amazing, but he doesn’t really have a go-to weapon that he could unleash consistently.
That’s hugely problematic in a matchup such as against Djokovic, who is also very good at everything but just slightly better, so to take him down, opponents have to bring something special.

Prediction:
Even with the limitations, de Minaur has found a way to beat the Serbian in the past. It was mostly because the Serbian didn’t play well, but it’s not certain that he will play well in this match either.
One important thing to note is that the Australian player seemingly injured himself at the end of his previous match. He limped towards the net to shake his opponent’s hand, and if that persists into the match with the seven-time champion, his chances would become minimal.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in three sets.
