No one has earned more in tennis in 2023 than Novak Djokovic, even though he did not receive millions in bonus payments.
After players counted what they earned from prize money on the ATP Tour and Grand Slam tournaments in 2023, the result was obvious, Novak Djokovic earned the most.
However, it was not so clear after the bonus payments were added, because the 24-time Grand Slam champion was one of a few players in the Top 20 that did not receive a bonus payment.
The reason for that is simple, as Djokovic missed more than three ATP Masters 1000 mandatory tournaments, making him ineligible for the bonus payment.
Despite that, the Serbian superstar earned more than anyone else, bagging an impressive $15,952,044 throughout the 2023 season, ahead of his closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz.
Although the Spaniard earned more than $5 million less in prize money in 2023, he compensated that with bonuses, earning $4,443,073 in bonus payments to bring his prize money total to $15,196,504.
For the first time ever, four players earned over $10 million, and following the two Grand Slam winners in 2023 were Daniil Medvedev with $11,548,023, and Jannik Sinner with $10,456,264.
After that, the drop is quite significant, but there are still three players, who managed to earn over $5 million for their efforts during the 2023 season and their names are Andrey Rublev, Alexander Zverev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Rublev earned $6,571,890, Zverev collected $5,643,764, while Tsitsipas got $5,489,110. Holger Rune missed out on the $5-million mark only by the smallest margins, earning $4,946,875 during the 2023 season.
Joining Djokovic on the list of the players who did not receive any bonus payments were Ben Shelton and Cameron Norrie, who both, however, managed to earn over $2 million in prize money.
The American youngster is 17th on the list with $2,513,275, while the Brit is 21st-best-earner on the ATP Tour in 2023, earning $2,181,535.
