Djokovic’s Daughter Brings Humor to His Matches by Reading Books

Novak Djokovic has his family with him at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, and he thinks it’s great because it allows him to find the perfect balance.

The Serbian has often talked about what his family means to him, going as far as admitting that if he does retire sooner than he thought, it will be to spend more time with his family.

They’ve been accompanying him at several events in the past few years, most notably those close to home, such as the tournaments in Europe, especially during the summer, when his kids don’t have to go to school.

They’re with him at Wimbledon as well, and he thinks it’s great that it gives him a chance to spend time with them in between matches, which allows him to alleviate some of the stress of his daily tennis routine.

His daughter grabbed a lot of attention by reading a book during one of his matches, which he found hilarious. He was also asked about it after advancing to the semi-final, and he admitted that it was both great and a bit sad because he’d like her to enjoy his tennis a bit more.

“I was very happy when I saw that and sad at the same time because my tennis doesn’t make her excited so much; she needs to grab a book to entertain herself. It’s incredible to have them with me and see them grow and get them to be part of this year. They are at an age when they know what’s going on.”

Ultimately, just having his kids present with him at his tennis matches is a positive for Djokovic because he finds great pleasure in fatherhood.

“My son is 9, my daughter is 6 and they were actually both playing tennis with me on the court. It was a joy. My heart is obviously filled with love when I see them and it also allows me to kind of enjoy myself off the court a bit more.”
