Djokovic’s Foundation Carry Out Annual Fundraiser To Help Refurbish School In Serbia

For the Novak Djokovic Foundation, the annual fundraiser started several weeks ago, with the proceeds expected to refurbish an elementary school in Serbia.

Novak Djokovic, the most successful tennis player in history, winning the most Grand Slams and Masters 1000s of any man and amassing over $180 million of fortune playing tennis, has a penchant for giving back to society.

The tennis star launched the Novak Djokovic Foundation as early as 2007, when he was only 20, with the central mission of transforming the world by ensuring every child in Serbia has access to early childhood education, especially those from disadvantaged communities.

Djokovic, 36, understands the financial hurdles impacting tennis players and young children from developing in a stimulating and safe environment, having passed through the same pits while growing up. Even with such modest means, he managed to rise above everyone else.

Like every December, his foundation, which has built at least 50 kindergartens in Serbia and changed the lives of over 50,000 children back in his homeland, appeals for donations from every corner of the world.

Djokovic and his wife Jelena, who is also a founder and serves as the foundation’s global CEO, will match the amounts raised to furnish and fully equip three new study rooms, corridors, and bathrooms in an elementary school in a suburb of Serbia in a village called Rvati.

“No victory is as important as those that we achieve together year after year by including more children in early years programmes and enabling them to develop in the best possible way.”

“Together with our partners, donors, friends and institutions that support us, we are raising awareness of this important goal for a happier future, and I am proud that our community is growing in numbers and becoming more dedicated to the realisation of this goal.”
