Doc Rivers Roasted For Making Craziest Excuse Yet

Doc Rivers has an extensive history of making excuses for his teams’ shortcomings and throwing his players under the bus. But after the Milwaukee Bucks’ most recent loss, he took things to a new level by throwing the team’s travel crew under the bus.

“I’ve actually been sitting back and watching everything,” Rivers said. “Not just our players but our travel crew, everything…We don’t bring the necessary professionalism, seriousness on the road… Everybody seems happy, you know, but except for me after our game.”

The Bucks lost to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday and the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. Milwaukee didn’t have Damian Lillard in uniform for either game, but they were still heavily favoured to beat both teams. And as always, it’s everyone’s fault except Doc’s.

Here are some of the best reactions around the internet to Rivers’ latest comments.

The pressure on Rivers is undoubtedly rising. He has won just 50 percent of his games as Bucks head coach, while his predecessor Adrian Griffin won just under 70 percent. That’s despite Griffin being fired just part-way through his first year as head coach of the team.

Interestingly, Rivers isn’t the only member of the Bucks to reference the team’s support staff when it comes to the team’s poorer performances. Giannis Antetokounmpo referred to the team’s equipment manager while venting his frustration earlier this season.

“We have to be better,” he said at the time. “We have to play better. We have to defend better. We have to trust one another better. We have to be coached better. Every single thing, everybody has to be better. Everybody. It starts from the equipment manager. He has to wash our clothes better. The bench has to be better. The leaders of the team have to be more vocal… We have four months to get better, so let’s see.”

These are very strange times in Milwaukee indeed.
