The Miami Dolphins continue to add veteran pieces to their roster.

This offseason, they have added the likes of All-Pro safety Jordan Poyer and former Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Now, they have recently added another backend defender.

According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, free agent safety Marcus Maye is signing with the Dolphins.

The more experience a contending team can add, the better.

Maye will provide some depth and experience behind Jevon Holland and Poyer.

The 31-year-old and Florida native broke into the league back in 2017 with the Jets.

New York drafted him in the second round at pick No. 39 overall.

After spending five seasons with Gang Green, he would head to New Orleans to play for the Saints.

Now, he has landed in Miami having played the last two seasons in the Bayou.

In four of his first seven NFL seasons, he has recorded 60+ tackles.

He might not be an All-Pro, but he will be able to provide more expertise to the pass defense in Miami.

In a division with Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen, and in a conference with Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, having a steady pass defense definitely needs to matter.

With Vic Fangio as the defensive coordinator, Miami finished middle-of-the-pack in terms of average pass yards allowed per game (221.2).

Again, with a healthy Rodgers and a motivated Allen, the Dolphins and new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver are going to need to be on their game this season if they want to have a special year.
