Draft Analyst Says Eagles Could Make Surprise Pick In First Round Of Draft

Under general manager Howie Roseman, the Philadelphia Eagles have established their identity in the trenches on both sides of the field.

The Eagles boasted the best offensive line in the 2023 NFL season, and their defensive line was one of the best in the league as well.

However, the team lost stalwarts on both ends as Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox both announced their retirements earlier this offseason.

However, Roseman and the rest of the organization made sure to shore up those spots as they brought in Bryce Huff and re-signed Jordan Mailata to an extension.

While Huff and Mailata were clearly priorities for the team, it appears they might not be done adding more big men to their roster.

Philadelphia could decide to dip their toes at offensive tackle again in the 2024 NFL Draft, per Matt Miller of ESPN via Word On The Birds on Twitter.

Keep an eye on the Philadelphia Eagles as a sneaky offensive tackle team in Round 1, even after Thursday’s extension of Jordan Mailata,” Miller said.

Philadelphia owns the No. 22 overall pick and there are going to be several offensive tackle prospects at that spot.

Building through the trenches is a tried-and-true method for team-building in the NFL and landing a starting tackle does wonders for an offense.

It’ll be interesting to see whether or not Philadelphia does go the offensive tackle route considering they have other pressing needs on their roster.
