Draper Looking To Leave ‘Mr Injured’ Image Behind After Injury-Plagued 2023

Draper Looking To Leave ‘Mr Injured’ Image Behind After Injury-Plagued 2023

Jack Draper struggled with injuries in 2023, and that’s why he would like to get rid of that image during the 2024 season.

Being injured is never good for any professional athlete, and for the young Brit, who seemed to be one of the emerging talents on the ATP Tour, the injuries came at the worst possible moment.

However, once he returned to competition, he showed his undeniable qualities, winning the ATP Challenger in Bergamo, and after that, reaching his first-ever Tour-level final in Sofia.

After that, he continued to prove his qualities at the 2023 Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) Grand Final in London, where he beat several good players.

It was ahead of this tournament that the British player spoke to iNews about his season, and how he approaches the training. According to Draper, many tennis players rely on their skills, and that’s not the path he wants to choose.

“It’s difficult because there’s obviously a lot of athletes out there who have a lot of talent and they don’t put the work in or they rely on their skills, and they don’t have great programme or people around them.”

On the contrary, Draper wants to work hard, and that’s something that he did also throughout the 2023 season, even though fans couldn’t see him so much on the court.

He got a somewhat of an “Mr. Injured” image, but going into 2024, that’s something that the talented Brit wants to leave behind him and focus only on his progress.

“But I’ve always worked really hard, I’ve always tried to do the right things for my body, whether that’s diet or looking after what I’m doing off the court or on the court as well. I’m in a great place and I’m hoping that Mr Injured is behind me now.”
