Draper Makes Comeback from Injury, Ready for Davis Cup and Rotterdam Tournaments

Jack Draper is set to make his long-awaited return to competitive tennis following a challenging six-month absence due to injury. The 24-year-old British player has been sidelined with a bone bruise in his left arm since the 2025 U.S. Open, where he managed to reach the second round before ultimately having to withdraw from the tournament.

Draper’s comeback will take place this week as he represents Great Britain in their Davis Cup qualifying match against Norway. The tie will be held on Thursday and Friday, where Draper will team up with fellow Brit Cameron Norrie to face a Norwegian squad that will be competing without their star player, Casper Ruud.

In a recent interview with the Independent, Draper expressed his feelings about returning to the sport. “I feel good,” he stated. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to be on the match court. I played a bit at the U.S. Open, but it wasn’t anywhere near where I needed to be to come back to professional tennis. This has been a very complex injury.”

He elaborated on the challenges he faced during his recovery: “Multiple people have had this injury, and it’s not straightforward at all. But I’ve learned a lot about myself, my body, my character, and what I need to move forward. I’m really happy to be back competing again and healthy.”

Following the Davis Cup, Draper is also slated to participate in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, an ATP 500 event taking place in Rotterdam next week. Although several top players, including Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, have withdrawn from the tournament, Draper will still be competing against a formidable lineup that features the likes of Alex de Minaur, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alexander Bublik, Daniil Medvedev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas. As Draper steps back onto the court, fans will be eager to see how he performs after his lengthy absence from the game.
