Draper Reveals What He’s Going To Do With Massive UTS Paycheque

Jack Draper is a relatively young tennis player and, as such, hasn’t had a chance to win a lot of prize money, so the recent Ultimate Tennis Showdown payout was warmly welcomed.

Tennis has a lot of underdog stories with Novak Djokovic being one of the biggest examples of that. He came from a pretty modest background but grew to become one of the best players in a sport that requires a lot of money to pursue properly.

Some lucky breaks happened along the way, of course, but he’s far from the only one. Frances Tiafoe might have the best underdog story of any player, but most of them have a pretty good one when you really dig deep enough.

Draper’s background is a bit different. He grew up around the sport as his mother was a former player and British junior champion, while his father was a longtime executive both in Sport England and the Lawn Tennis Association.

You can almost say that he was destined to play tennis and does it well. The talent is undeniable, but there were some hiccups along the way, mainly injuries. One of the best moments of his career came at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown recently in London, where he won the biggest payout of his career.

It’s time to step up and earn his own money to fund his career, and he did that in London. He talked a bit about that after his opening win at the 2024 Adelaide International, admitting that he will invest in himself and tennis.

Yeah, in terms of the money, obviously I did get a lot of money from the event, and yeah, that money will go straight into trying to be a better player, investing in my tennis. I’m not a very kind of materialistic guy, so none of that’s going towards anything else apart from getting better on the tennis side of things. Tennis is a very expensive sport, so every little bit helps.
