Draymond Green’s Perspective on the Warriors’ Attempt to Draft Bronny James

Bronny

Draymond Green has spoken honestly about what could have been if the Warriors had drafted Bronny James.

The Warriors “liked Bronny’s skill set and had him on their draft board”, sources told ESPN a few weeks ago.

But the storied franchise ultimately decided to “respect the wishes James had made clear” and left him for LA to draft as the number 55 overall pick.

If Golden State had drafted LeBron’s eldest son, they could have certainly lured LeBron there as a free agent, and Draymond recently pondered what could have been.

“I think it’s great for the Warriors to say and do that because the reality is they could’ve drafted Bronny and I think after watching Steph and Bron in the Olympics you probably look back at it like, ‘Dang we probably should have tried to lure him away because that thing just looked incredible watching them two in the Olympics together,’” on the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show.

“In saying that I think, Bronny and Bron playing together, it’s insane and anybody who is hating on that, like, you hate yourself.”

Green got a chance to get in the ear of the Lakers rookie before he took the court with LeBron in his first official NBA game.

“Playing against Bronny, especially the last game of the preseason, my only thing to Bronny is this: Brother, if you’re going to fail — and I actually said to him, Hey man, if you’re going to fail, fail on your terms,” Green said. “You know how to play basketball, and some of the time I’m watching you play, and you’re acting like you don’t know how to play basketball.

“The one thing I know you know how to do, is you know how to play basketball, bro. I’m like, ‘Hey man, just play your game. If you’re going to fail, fail because you fail playing like you know how to play. Don’t fail because you ain’t doing what you know how to do.”
