Eagles Insider Details Potential Effects Of Trading A.J. Brown

After forging a 10-1 record, the Philadelphia Eagles collapsed in spectacular fashion, losing six of their final seven regular-season games and getting blown out in the first round of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

That collapse has resulted in lots of speculation about changes that may lie ahead for the organization.

Some felt head coach Nick Sirianni’s job was in jeopardy and claimed he had lost the locker room, but his job appears to be safe, at least for now.

There are also rumors that the Eagles may trade A.J. Brown, their star wide receiver, and John McMullen tweeted the financial ramifications if they do so in the next four months.

At least on the surface, trading Brown seems like a foolish thing to even consider, as McMullen notes that while it obviously saves money, he’s an elite player.

He has had over 1,450 receiving yards in both of the last two seasons for Philly, and he was recently selected to the Pro Bowl for the third time in his five NFL seasons.

After he arrived in a trade from the Tennessee Titans prior to last season, he has elevated the Eagles from a playoff team to a Super Bowl contender.

Of course, the Eagles went to last season’s Super Bowl, only to blow a 10-point halftime lead there to the Kansas City Chiefs, and going into this season, most expected them to be back there this winter.

If they are to reach Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans a year from now, they will have to retain Brown while addressing their issues from top to bottom.
