The San Francisco 49ers seemingly struck gold when they drafted Brock Purdy.

Purdy was the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and was never expected to start a game for this team.

However, after a few injuries to the quarterbacks above him on the depth chart, Purdy got his shot during his rookie campaign.

He has proven himself over the past two seasons and is seemingly who the 49ers want to move forward with as their starter for the foreseeable future.

Some fans and analysts are hesitant to call Purdy a franchise quarterback, despite the messaging coming from the 49ers.

However, Ed McCaffrey, who is close to the team due to his son being on the roster, had nothing but positive things to say about Purdy in a recent conversation with Robert Griffin III.

He had no doubts when asked about Purdy being a franchise quarterback, saying, “Oh, absolutely. Yeah, he’s going to be playing for the 49ers for a long, long time… Some players are better NFL players than college players because they have that skill set that lends itself to the NFL game,” McCaffrey said.

The 49ers have yet to pay Purdy a contract extension, which will likely come after the conclusion of the 2024 season, provided he keeps this momentum moving.

Purdy has elevated the players around him and made the 49ers offense one of the best in the league.

He has sent a message to his doubters, and how, he’s hoping to silence them even further with a Super Bowl win next year.
