Edwards and Towns shine as Timberwolves dominate Nuggets in Game 2

Edwards, Towns lead Timberwolves to blowout Game 2 win over Nuggets

Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 106-80 blowout win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The Wolves’ suffocating defense held the Nuggets to a dismal 29-of-83 shooting performance, despite the absence of Rudy Gobert.

With both Edwards and Towns contributing 27 points each, the Timberwolves extended their unbeaten streak to 6-0 in the playoffs.

The frustration was palpable for the Nuggets, with coach Michael Malone expressing his displeasure at an official, and Jamal Murray displaying his frustration by throwing a heat pack onto the court.

Despite efforts to regain composure, the Nuggets struggled to find their rhythm, with Murray shooting a dismal 3-of-18 from the field.

Aaron Gordon led the Nuggets’ scoring efforts with 20 points, while Nikola Jokic recorded a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds.

The Timberwolves’ dominance was evident throughout the game, as they outscored the Nuggets 43-18 in a decisive first-half run.

With a commanding 26-point halftime lead, the Timberwolves put the Nuggets in unfamiliar territory, facing their largest halftime deficit in franchise history in a home playoff game.
