Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz Claim Victory at the 2025 Eisenhower Cup in Indian Wells

Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz Claim Victory at the 2025 Eisenhower Cup in Indian Wells

Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz won the 2025 Eisenhower Cup in Indian Wells, dominating the mixed doubles competition.

Fans of the mixed doubles enjoyed an evening of great action at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The best players from the ATP and WTA Tours teamed up for another edition of the Eisenhower Cup.

The Eisenhower Cup is a Tie-Break Tens tournament, with players competing in a rapid mixed doubles format. Each match is played as a super tie-break to 10 points, keeping all players on the court throughout the evening.

This setup leads to many entertaining moments, with players interviewed during and between matches. The tournament didn’t disappoint, even with some changes prior to the event.

Aryna Sabalenka withdrew from the event and was replaced by Rybakina, who teamed up with Fritz. Paula Badosa also withdrew, prompting her partner and boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas to withdraw as well. They were replaced by Daniil Medvedev and Amanda Anisimova.

The first match on Tuesday saw Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz take on Lorenzo Musetti and Jasmine Paolini. Swiatek and Hurkacz won the match 10-6.

Next, Tommy Paul and Madison Keys, playing for the first time since her Australian Open victory, faced Casper Ruud and Maria Sakkari. The American duo won 10-6.

Then, fans witnessed Anisimova and Medvedev, who replaced Badosa and Tsitsipas, face off against Fritz and Rybakina. The American-Kazakhstani duo won 10-4.

Finally, Ben Shelton and Emma Navarro bested the only couple in the competition, Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter, 10-7.

The first semi-final match saw Keys and Paul against Swiatek and Hurkacz, a close contest that concluded with the all-American duo winning 10-8.

The second semi-final wasn’t as close. Fritz and Rybakina played exceptionally well, securing a 10-6 victory after previously leading 9-3.

Rybakina and Fritz emerged as the best team of the evening, confirming their dominance in the final by defeating Keys and Paul 10-4 to claim the 2025 Eisenhower Cup. Rybakina expressed her joy afterwards.

“It’s really special. I’m glad I was lucky to play here. Thanks to my partner, of course, and everyone who came to watch. It’s a great event. Super happy to be a winner.”

Fritz, who previously won the tournament with Sabalenka, was thrilled to add his name to the list of champions again.

“It’s awesome. You come here to try and win it. It was super exciting to play with Elena. She played great. Great to start the week off at home.”

The duo enjoyed playing together so much that they even hinted at participating in the new mixed doubles tournament at the US Open. In an interview with the Tennis Channel, Fritz revealed he asked Rybakina about potentially partnering again in New York.

“I just asked Elena if she wants to play mixed at the US Open. Hopefully, she says yes.”
