Ella Toone wins 50th cap for England Women in crucial away victory in France - Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United Women were involved in another busy night of international football, as many were on duty to help their national side in their quest to qualify for Euro 2025.

The most high profile game of the night was England’s crucial win in France, after losing at home to the same opposition last week.

It was also a big night for United’s Ella Toone as she won her 50th cap for the Lionesses.

Mary Earps had to pull out of the squad due to injury but Toone started on the night and played 90 minutes before being subbed off in added time.

Toone was the only United representative to get any action as Millie Turner, Maya Le Tissier and Grace Clinton all remained on the bench in England’s crucial 2-1 win.

The Lionesses went two nil up through goals from Bayern Munich’s Georgia Stanway and former United striker and current Arsenal player Alessia Russo. France did pull a goal back via a penalty from Kadidiatou Diani, but Toone and England held on.

The result means England are still in 3rd place and out of the automatic qualifying spots, but have seven points alongside Sweden and France are top with nine.

The Republic of Ireland and Aoife Mannion were also in action and the United defender played the full 90 minutes in a heart-breaking loss in the 84th minute in Sweden. The Irish held out for much of the game but could not repel Magdalena Eriksson’s effort and they remain rooted to the bottom of Group C, behind England on zero points.

United Women were also heavily represented in the Welsh squad as they grabbed a crucial 2-2 draw with Ukraine to maintain their second place in the group and the three point gap in the final automatic qualification spot.

Hayley Ladd captained the side and played the full 90 minutes and Gemma Evans also played the entire game in the Welsh defence. Ukraine took the lead but two goals from Kayleigh Barton and Jess Fishlock put the Dragons in front before the Ukrainians fired in a 97th minute equaliser.

United’s FA Cup final heroine Lucia Garcia scored a 92 minute winner to give World Champions Spain a 3-2 win over Denmark. The result means the Spanish sit comfortably top of their group A with 12 points from 12.

The qualification process will continue in mid-July when the final two group games are played and United’s players will know their fate for next summer’s tournament.
