The Chicago Bears have a franchise-altering decision to make in a few weeks.
With the NFL Draft rapidly approaching and the Bears having the No. 1 overall pick, they are presumed to take a quarterback in this spot.
For the past several weeks, Caleb Williams has appeared to be the obvious answer, given his prospect profile and how highly he has been touted throughout his career.
However, while Williams might be a great prospect, several analysts have expressed their concerns about what his first few years in the league could look like for the Bears.
According to Chris Tomasson, Eric Dickerson recently highlighted one major roadblock for Williams on the Bears.
“Their offensive line is not good,” Dickerson said, adding, “He’s going to be running for his life.”

Williams might be a fine prospect, but he could struggle to gain traction early on without an adequate offensive line.
Dickerson also believes that the Bears should have stuck with Justin Fields for another season or two, electing to work on the holes on their roster rather than taking a big swing at the quarterback position in the draft.
If the Bears wanted to trade back and acquire at least another first-round pick in this year’s draft, they could have had multiple opportunities to re-vamp their line and other positions on the roster.
Now that it has been made abundantly clear that the Bears are sticking with their decision to draft a quarterback, likely Williams, it will be interesting to see how this organization builds the roster around him.
