Erik ten Hag’s overlooking of Altay Bayindir in his early days at Manchester United – Latest updates on transfers and news from Man United

Erik ten Hag ignored Altay Bayindir during his early days at Manchester United - Man United News And Transfer News

Erik ten Hag did not give Altay Bayindir a proper welcome at Manchester United after signing him in 2023.

Ten Hag has come under fire due to his side’s frustrating start to the new season. Having played seven Premier League games, United have only managed two wins and currently find themselves 14th in the table.

Apart from disappointing results, the United gaffer has received backlash for his questionable management of his players.

Against Aston Villa, Ten Hag took a surprise decision of dropping his signings Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt for 36-year-old Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire, who at one point was on the fringes of the first-team.

Now, a report from Football Insider has raised further concerns about Ten Hag’s treatment of his players. It is claimed Ten Hag did not speak to Bayindir for two weeks after he joined United from Fenerbahce.

In the summer of 2023, United spent £4.3 million to sign Bayindir with an aim to provide cover for first-choice shot-stopper Andre Onana.

However, upon his arrival, he was reportedly “not greeted by, nor introduced to the manager” for over a fortnight.

During his initial days at Carrington, the new signing spent time only with the club’s goalkeeping coaches and did not get to have any conversation with Ten Hag.

Since his arrival, Bayindir has only been handed two appearances at United, with Ten Hag opting to place his trust in his former Ajax man Onana, even for cup fixtures.

The report further adds that the United gaffer’s actions off the field have been “cause for concern for some of his players” including Bayindir.

The Dutchman is already on thin ice due to his side’s worrying form, and supposed discontent behind the scenes has the potential to make things go from bad to worse for him.

For now, though, Ten Hag is expecting to keep hold of his job. Earlier today, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming that he is “planning to return from holiday early next week to start planning for the clash with Brentford” after the international break.
