Estonian tennis star Anett Kontaveit welcomes a baby boy in Tallinn

Tallinn | Kontaveit announces arrival of a baby boy

28-year old Anett Kontaveit welcomed her first child, a son called Leon, a week ago, joining the ranks of current or former Top 20-ranked WTA players who have recently become mothers.

First week with our Leon. So much love. Anett Kontaveit

Kontaveit shared the news of her new family member on Instagram, revealing that baby Leon Enzo Lepistu was born to her and her longtime boyfriend, soccer player Brent Lepistu.

“First week with our Leon,” Kontaveit wrote in her Instagram post. “So much love.”

A well-loved figure during her playing career, Kontaveit retired from the tour last year due to a back condition, receiving warm wishes from fellow players on her pregnancy and new arrival.

Notably, Ons Jabeur, excited to become an ‘auntie’ following Kontaveit’s pregnancy announcement, shared a special welcome to baby Leon.

Belinda Bencic kicked off the trend of high-profile WTA players becoming mothers this year with the birth of her daughter Bella in April. She was followed by Petra Kvitova and Alison Riske-Amritraj, who welcomed a son and daughter during Wimbledon, and Sabine Lisicki, who gave birth to a daughter named Bella this month.
