Ethan Horvath’s wait for his first victory of the 2023-24 season finally came to an end.
Horvath helped Cardiff City to a 2-1 EFL Championship win over Stoke City on Saturday, his first at club level since May 27th with Luton Town. The veteran shot-stopper made five saves in Erol Bulut’s squad as the Bluebirds moved 11 points back of the final promotion playoff spot.
Kion Etete and Karlan Grant both delivered first-half goals for the hosts before Bae Jun-ho cut the deficit for the visiting Potters. Despite Stoke’s best efforts, Horvath came to the rescue with several key stops for the hosts.
It marked the Bluebirds’ first league win since Feb. 3, snapping a four-match winless streak.
Horvath, who joined Cardiff City during the January Transfer Window, has now made four-straight starts since his move from Nottingham Forest.
Up next for Cardiff City in a March 2 trip to Bristol City before eventual matches against Huddersfield Town, Ipswich Town, Swansea City, and Sunderland.
Horvath will hope his return to consistent playing time will boost his chances of U.S. men’s national team involvement this March.
