Tuesday marked Ethan Horvath’s first club start in close to nine months, but it didn’t prove to be a memorable one for the veteran shot-stopper.
Horvath suffered a 2-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion in his Cardiff City debut on Tuesday night. It was Horvath’s first start since featuring for the U.S. men’s national team during the September international window.
It was a fast start for the host Baggies as Michael Johnston scored one minute in the match. Tom Fellows’ pass was finished off by Johnston, giving Carlos Corberan’s squad an early advantage.
Despite Cardiff’s best efforts, West Brom would have the final say in the match as Andreas Weimann scored the Baggies insurance goal with 10 minutes to play.
The visiting Seagulls only recorded one shot on target in the match, suffering a second-consecutive defeat and their third out of the past four matches.
Horvath will hope for a better result on Saturday when the Seagulls visit in-form Josh Sargent and Norwich City.
