Johnny Cardoso’s strong performance at Real Betis has caught the attention of several Spanish and European clubs.
According to Diario De Sevilla, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are among the interested parties. Bundesliga teams Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also reportedly monitoring Cardoso.
Real Betis would demand around $32.4 million for Cardoso (€30 million) and he has a release clause of €80 million. His contract with the club runs until June 2029.
Cardoso, who hails from New Jersey, made the switch to Real Betis in January from Brazilian side Internacional. The 22-year-old midfielder has adapted well to Manuel Pellegrini’s team, contributing one goal and two assists in 14 total appearances.
Prior to joining Real Betis, Cardoso played 144 matches for Internacional, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 8,031 minutes played. He has earned 11 caps for the U.S. men’s national team, featuring in the CONCACAF Nations League victory over Mexico last March.
Barcelona currently holds the second position in La Liga, with Atletico Madrid in fourth place. RB Leipzig is fourth in the Bundesliga standings, while Borussia Dortmund occupies the fifth spot.
