Former Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay has opened up on his impressions of Ineos and former boss, Erik ten Hag.
The Welshman joined Minnesota United in March after spending 3 years on United’s coaching team.
His side sit 9th in the Western Conference in the MLS after 25 games this season, in his first senior management role.
The Welshman had decided to leave the club despite the Ineos partial takeover being announced just three months before his departure and he claimed in an interview with The Daily Mail that part of him feels he could have thrived at the club under the new regime.
The sporting department and coaching department has gone under a revolution this year but Ramsay claimed “I spoke to the Ineos guys and Dave Brailsford at length. I couldn’t say that there wasn’t a tiny part of me looking at Ineos and thinking I would be a good fit for the way they want to go about things.”
The 32 year old then lavished praise on Sir Dave Brailsford by stating “you can’t look at someone like Dave Brailsford and not yearn for more conversation because he speaks so fluently around high performance.”
It was relayed here that the feeling was mutual as Brailsford had identified Ramsay as a possible assistant manager and thought highly of the coach.
The former Chelsea coach opened up on his relationship with former boss Erik ten Hag and opined that he learnt a lot from the Dutchman.
“For sure, I took loads from working with Erik. A really impressive guy with a real sense of strength and conviction. Watching Erik from a step removed, dealing with the enormity of what you have at Manchester United when things aren’t going well, that was really helpful.”
Ramsay revealed that he had received a couple of opportunities to leave before he eventually took the plunge to depart for the United States but he had also gone to Ten Hag to discuss the matters, speaking to the trust in their working relationship.
“I’d always taken them to him first. He was a very good person to talk to in that sense. He’s very honest and has also got that mentoring side to him.”
Ramsay has previously lauded Ten Hag’s footballing principles, claiming “(Erik) is obviously incredibly focused, has real conviction as to how he wants the team to play, how he feels the group should be managed, as you’d expect of anyone who hits that level as a manager.”
