Ex-Coach Suggests Reasons Why Playing for the Cowboys Can Be Challenging

Former Pro Bowl Running Back Will Meet With Cowboys Monday

The Dallas Cowboys were a team that dominated the headlines for all the wrong reasons during the NFL offseason, as it seemed like the team was a mess after losing embarrassingly to Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the NFL playoffs at AT&T Stadium.

Even though the expectation was that the Cowboys would make some drastic moves in the offseason to prevent another embarrassing playoff loss from happening, Dallas didn’t do much to upgrade their roster, which was a hot topic of discussion, especially with longtime team owner Jerry Jones making confusing statements frequently.

Along with no upgrades, the team dealt with constant speculation regarding the immediate futures of quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who were both in line for lucrative long-term contract extensions.

Ultimately, seemingly at the last minute, the Cowboys signed both players, which seemed to be a step in the right direction, especially after an impressive season-opening win on the road against the Cleveland Browns.

However, two consecutive home losses following the Week 1 win have many people wondering whether Dallas is the real deal this season.

Former NFL defensive coordinator and one-time Super Bowl champion Gregg Williams believes he knows why the Cowboys tend to be a mess organizationally via the Come Get Some Show.

“There’s some things going on down there that you have to battle all the time at the Cowboys is somebody else thinks they know more than you,” Williams said.

It seems that Williams is alluding to the team’s owner/general manager’s tendency to make things more difficult in Dallas than they should be.

Although Jones was highly successful in the 1990s, helping the Cowboys win three Super Bowl titles, Dallas hasn’t had much success in the postseason since then, but that hasn’t stopped the outspoken team owner from speaking his mind frequently and potentially hurting the team rather than helping it.
