Five weeks into the 2024 NFL regular season, one of the most surprising teams in the league has been the rebuilding Washington Commanders, who overhauled the coaching staff in the NFL and made a change at quarterback, bringing in rookie and reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Jayden Daniels.

With so many drastic changes in the nation’s capital, many believed it would be a rough 2024 campaign, with new head coach Dan Quinn trying to change the culture in Washington while seeing what he has in Daniels, who the team selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after the Chicago Bears drafted Caleb Williams at No, 1.

Although there were some concerns about Daniels coming into his first season in the NFL, as his style of play seemed risky for the professional level in terms of staying healthy, the former LSU star has been the best rookie in the league thus far.

Daniels had led the Commanders to a 4-1 record while turning many heads around the league and making many believe Washington is this year’s Houston Texans.

Michael Lombardi made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday and gave credit to Quinn’s coaching staff for steering this team in the right direction.

Currently, Daniels is the clear favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, while the Commanders are in contention to win the NFC East division title and punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs.

As long as Daniels stays healthy and plays consistently well, the sky is the limit for the Commanders moving forward.
