The Pittsburgh Steelers went from having no good quarterbacks to two potential starters.

Even so, there are levels to everything, and Russell Wilson currently gives them a better chance to win and compete at the highest level.

That’s why he’s the odds-on favorite to be the starting quarterback, at least for the time being.

And while Craig Carton thinks that Justin Fields is not an NFL-caliber quarterback and is currently just an athlete, Plaxico Burress respectfully disagrees.

Talking on The Carton Show, the former New York Giants star claimed that he trusted coach Mike Tomlin to instill the confidence Fields needs right now.

He thinks he can make him believe that he’s an NFL-caliber quarterback, and he thinks he has a legitimate chance to play at some point in the season.

Truth be told, Fields has the athletic traits and upside to at least be given a fair opportunity to play, not to mention the fact that he might be a better fit for Arthur Smith’s system.

As of now, we haven’t heard any reports of Fields wowing anybody or making it tough on Russell Wilson, but things can always change.

Wilson hasn’t been particularly great over the past couple of seasons.

And if he struggles early in the season, it wouldn’t be that surprising to see the former Chicago Bear make his way to the gridiron at some point in the season, as this team cannot afford to go any more seasons without a playoff win.
