The Carolina Panthers gave up a lot to get Bryce Young last offseason.
It didn’t pan out the way they hoped it would, as he struggled mightily under Frank Reich.
Now, the team has brought in an offensive guru and quarterback whisperer in Dave Canales, hoping that things look better for him in his second year in the league.
That’s why former Panthers QB Jack Delhomme has high hopes for Young in 2024.
Talking to Zach Gelb, Delhomme predicted that Young could have a resurgence similar to what Geno Smith had with Canales two years ago.

He stated that Young has been in the spotlight for most of his life, as he was the No. 1 quarterback coming out of high school before becoming a Heisman trophy winning quarterback with the Alabama Crimson Tide, so it’s not like he hasn’t faced this kind of pressure.
Per Delhomme, Canales did an outstanding job with Geno Smith with the Seattle Seahawks and then last season with Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
So, as much as they still need to establish the run, Delhomme thinks that adding Diontae Johnson and getting Canales as his coach will do wonders for Young in year two.
Truth be told, there were several concerns about Young’s size or lack thereof when he entered the NFL Draft.
That means that as much as young quarterbacks need to go through growing pains in their development and people shouldn’t rush to count them out, this could be a make-or-break season for the former No. 1 pick.
