Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano singles out Arsenal duo for praise in “big statement” of PL & CL credentials

Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano singles out Arsenal duo for praise in “big statement” of PL & CL credentials

Fabrizio Romano has heaped praise onto Arsenal after their emphatic 6-0 win away to West Ham United yesterday, with the journalist singling out Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice as particularly impressive performers.

The Gunners put in one of their best performances this season as they absolutely thrashed West Ham at the London Stadium, with goals from Rice, two from Saka, plus first half efforts from William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Leandro Trossard giving Mikel Arteta’s men the three points.

This is some turnaround in form by Arsenal given the major slump they suffered in December, but Romano, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column, insists he always had faith in the project at the Emirates Stadium.

Discussing Arsenal’s credentials now, Romano certainly seems to feel the north London giants have shown that they can go far in this Premier League title race, as well as in the Champions League this season.

Bukayo Saka celebrates a goal for Arsenal

He said: “I’m not surprised by Arsenal’s emphatic win at West Ham and their recent improvement in general – I was always backing Arsenal despite poor form in December.

“Their coach is great, the team is very good too and I’m sure they will do very well in Champions League. For sure to win 6-0 away from home like this is a big statement, showing how focused and hungry they are.

“You can’t help but be impressed by players like Rice or Saka or the others – now we know they are all top top players.”
