Times have certainly changed for the Detroit Lions in a matter of months.
They had been bad or mediocre for most of the last three decades, but last season, they went 12-5 and were minutes away from clinching a spot in the Super Bowl.
As a result, expectations are pretty high for this coming season as well.
While the Lions have one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL in Amon-Ra St. Brown and a strong tight end in Sam LaPorta, they’re hoping Jameson Williams emerges and raises their offensive ceiling.
Head coach Dan Campbell said that Williams has been working very hard and that “he is a man on a mission,” per Ari Meirov, who shared a video as well.

The Lions thought highly enough about Williams to trade three draft picks for him on draft day 2022, but he hasn’t reached his potential, at least not yet.
As a rookie, he appeared in just six games and caught one pass for 41 yards, and last year, he was at 354 yards and two touchdowns on 24 receptions.
Pro Football Focus named Williams the player who needs to step up for Detroit to have an unstoppable offense this fall and winter.
In his junior season in college, Williams collected 79 catches for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns as a member of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, so he does appear to have some ability to be a legitimate playmaking threat alongside St. Brown.
Some feel that with Jared Goff at quarterback, Detroit doesn’t have a ton of room for improvement, but if Williams improves significantly, perhaps they could end up making plans to be in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX.
