There is tons of optimism surrounding the Green Bay Packers, as they’re coming off an unexpected playoff berth and wild-card round win over the Dallas Cowboys, and many now feel they can challenge the Detroit Lions for NFC North supremacy.
Leading the way is quarterback Jordan Love, who has gone from being doubted to being considered on the verge of entering the NFL’s elite category in a matter of months.
Love is entering the last year of his contract, and he’s reportedly going to hold out of practice and preseason games until he receives an extension.
There has been talk that Love could receive a record extension, and James Jones said on Fox Sports 1’s “Speak” that he should be the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
“Should, would, will, yes!” said Jones. “All of that. He’s the next man up.”
Should Jordan Love be the highest-paid QB?

When Aaron Rodgers, who had been the face of the Packers since 2008 when he took over the QB1 spot for the departed Brett Favre, was traded last offseason, many doubted that Love was capable of filling his spot.
Love, the No. 26 pick in the 2020 draft, had only played in 10 games to that point, and he had attempted 83 passes while completing 50 of them and throwing as many interceptions (three) as touchdown passes (three).
While his play was anemic during the first 10 games of last season, he was red-hot afterward, and he finished the year seventh in passing yards and second in passing touchdowns.
If he continues his late-season play from 2023 all through this coming season, the Packers could become a real force once winter arrives.
