Training camps are opening up across the NFL this week, and players, executives, and fans are all feeling the optimism that comes with the start of a new season.

On Tuesday, camp started for the New York Jets, and after the disaster that was the 2023 season, they’re hoping this time around, they will stay healthy and cohesive.

Last year, they went 7-10 after quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whom they traded for in the offseason, promptly tore his Achilles on their first offensive series of Week 1.

Rodgers has apparently healed from that injury, and Harry Douglas said that the Jets should therefore be “astronomically better” than they were last year or the year before that, per Freddie and Harry.

The Jets have seemingly been mired in the dungeon of bad fortune for some 50 years, and last year was a prime example, especially after all the preseason hype and excitement Rodgers’ arrival created.

But as long as he stays healthy and plays at a respectable level, they should be competitive, at the very least.

New York added wide receiver Mike Williams and eight-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tyron Smith this offseason, and they will join studs such as wideout Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, not to mention a talented defense.

Douglas said that New York’s talented defense will take plenty of pressure off of Rodgers so that he won’t necessarily have to be his old MVP self for the team to do well.

But if the Jets are to have a real shot at reaching the Super Bowl, Rodgers may have to approach the level of production he was at in 2020 and 2021, the years he won the most recent of his four league MVP awards.
