Liverpool Closing in on Kostas Tsimikas’ Return
Liverpool FC appears ready to bring back left-back Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at AS Roma, based on information from well-known journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Recent reports indicate that Liverpool intends to negotiate with Roma to terminate Tsimikas’ loan early. This development comes in light of Andrew Robertson’s potential transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, heightening Liverpool’s need for additional options at left-back since Tsimikas previously served as Robertson’s backup at Anfield.
As of now, Robertson has been relegated to a secondary role behind Milos Kerkez, making a move to Spurs attractive for him in search of more consistent playing time.
Romano shared on social media that AS Roma has signaled their willingness to let Tsimikas return to Liverpool if Robertson completes a transfer to Spurs. The dialogue between the clubs has been ongoing, despite the absence of a formal recall clause for Tsimikas.
In a tweet, Romano stated, “Understand AS Roma have already given green light to Kostas Tsimikas return to Liverpool if Robertson joins Spurs. It’s almost over between Tsimikas and Roma with #LFC ready to welcome the left back again. No recall clause but club to club contact, as reported by @JacobsBen.”
So far this season, Tsimikas has made 16 appearances for Roma. However, with Liverpool showing interest in his services again, his commitment to staying in Italy may be wavering.
Prior to this season, Tsimikas spent five years at Liverpool and seems eager to rejoin the team, offering much-needed depth for their squad. While Liverpool fans might be disheartened at the prospect of losing a player of Robertson’s caliber, the left-back is likely seeking more playing opportunities, especially with the upcoming 2026 World Cup on the horizon, marking Scotland’s first appearance in the tournament in 28 years.
