Fabrizio Romano Provides Insight on Dani Olmo Transfer Speculation

Chelsea Linked Dani Olmo Was One Of The Heroes Of EURO 2024 Semi-Finals

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has shared his thoughts on the rumors linking Dani Olmo to Chelsea. Romano believes that Chelsea is not in talks with the Spanish midfielder, as they already have a number of talented left-footed players in their squad. Instead, Chelsea is reportedly looking to sign a right-footed winger and a center-forward during this summer’s transfer window.

Olmo, who currently plays for RB Leipzig and the Spain national team, has been in exceptional form during Euro 2024. He has scored three goals and provided an assist in five matches, despite starting only two of them. His impressive performances have attracted interest from several top clubs in the footballing world.

With a €60 million release clause in his Leipzig contract, Olmo’s future was initially set to be decided by July 15. However, due to Spain’s progression to the Euro 2024 final, this deadline has been extended to July 20, giving Olmo more time to explore his options.

Fabrizio Romano’s Assessment of the Situation

Contrary to some reports linking Chelsea with a move for Olmo, Romano has stated that there is no ongoing negotiation between the player and the club. In his Daily Briefing column, Romano commented:

From the information I have, the release clause for Olmo was originally set to expire on July 15, but with Spain reaching the Euro 2024 final, it has been extended to the 20th. This gives Olmo’s representatives more time to find a suitable solution for him.

Despite reports linking Olmo to Chelsea in England, I have been informed that Chelsea is currently not pursuing a deal for him. The club already has a strong group of left-footed attackers, and their focus is on signing a right-footed winger and a striker. These positions are their main priorities for this window.

Olmo, 26, has amassed 148 appearances for RB Leipzig since his arrival in January 2020. He has contributed with 29 goals and 34 assists during his time at the German club.
