Fabrizio Romano reports Amad Diallo set for new role and contract at Manchester United following discussions with Erik ten Hag – Latest Manchester United News and Transfer Updates

Amad Diallo set for showdown talks with Erik ten Hag as he seeks assurances over playing time - Man United News And Transfer News

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United are set to reward Amad Diallo with an improved deal and a more prominent role in the team following talks with manager Erik ten Hag.

Amad had an impressive end to last season, the highlight of which was a memorable injury-time winner against Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

He was also spectacular for United during their final home game of the 2023/24 season against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle. On that occasion, Amad unleashed a powerful strike that flew into the back of the net.

The Ivorian seems to have picked up where he left off, mustering a man-of-the-match worthy performance as United cruised to a 2-0 pre-season win vs. Rangers at Murrayfield on Saturday.

The winger handed the Red Devils the lead in the first half when he cut in from the right wing and fired a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.

After the final whistle, Ten Hag spoke to the media and challenged Amad to step up in the upcoming campaign and go to the next level.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United were pushing to tie Amad down to a new deal, with sporting director Dan Ashworth eager to strike an agreement with the forward’s camp.

Fabrizio Romano spoke on his Here We Go podcast and confirmed that United are indeed planning to offer Amad fresh terms.

The 22-year-old will also enjoy a bigger role in the team.

The Italian journalist revealed, “Yes, Amad Diallo did fantastic in the friendly game against the Rangers, but in general, the second part of the season last year was excellent.”

“Let me say that Erik ten Hag is the one who had a direct conversation with Amad Diallo in January when he had the possibility to return to Sunderland.”

“He also received an important proposal from Italy on a loan with a potential option to buy, so there were several possibilities.”

“Ten Hag decided to trust the player. Amad Diallo did very well in the second part of the season, and especially in the final part of the season, now he’s expected to be an important player for United in the new season.”

As United travel to Los Angeles on Wednesday for the start of their pre-season tour, Amad will be part of the squad.
