Manchester United Eye Conor Gallagher Amid Transfer Talks
Manchester United is reportedly considering an approach for Conor Gallagher, a midfielder from Atlético Madrid, though the two clubs are currently at an impasse regarding the details of a potential transfer.
As per Fabritizio Romano, Manchester United plans to renew their interest in Gallagher when the January transfer window opens, but Atlético Madrid insists on a permanent transfer rather than a loan arrangement.
The Premier League outfit had previously sought a loan deal for the England international toward the end of the summer transfer window, viewing him as a valuable, proven midfielder.
However, negotiations did not move forward as Atlético Madrid was unwilling to entertain the idea of a temporary deal.
Man United’s Conundrum with Gallagher
The situation remains unchanged, with Atlético prepared to let Gallagher go only if the terms align with their expectations.
The Spanish club reportedly values Gallagher at approximately €30 million and insists on a straightforward permanent sale.
Despite his limited role under manager Diego Simeone, Atlético sees Gallagher as a significant asset, and any departure needs to be economically beneficial.
Since moving from Chelsea, Gallagher has struggled to become a regular starter in Simeone’s lineup. While his energy and work ethic are appreciated, he has primarily been a substitute, making minimal appearances in La Liga.
This has led to speculation about his future, especially since Gallagher is eager to gain more first-team experience at this stage of his career.
