Fabrizio Romano Squashes Speculation of David Alaba’s Retirement

Real Madrid Star David Alaba Joined As A Free Agent

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano dismissed reports suggesting that Real Madrid’s David Alaba is contemplating early retirement due to his injury. Romano stated that the Austrian defender is progressing well in his recovery and that the club’s medical staff are pleased with his rehabilitation.

Onda Cero Report Raises Concerns about David Alaba’s Future

Alaba has been sidelined since sustaining a torn ACL in a match against Villarreal on December 18. Following surgery, Alaba has been working towards returning to full fitness. Initially expected to be back by the end of the year, a recent report from Onda Cero has raised doubts about his timeline due to some alarming revelations.

Onda Cero stated that Alaba’s injury was more severe than initially thought, with reduced cartilage in his knee causing discomfort from bone-on-bone contact. This has hindered his ability to partake in high-intensity training, delaying his recovery. There are even suggestions of early retirement due to the new pain in his knee.

According to Onda Cero, Real Madrid acknowledges that Alaba’s return to action will be delayed and they are considering defensive reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano Confirms Real Madrid Doctors Are Pleased with David Alaba’s Progress

Addressing speculation about Alaba’s future at Real Madrid, Romano tweeted:

“Rumors about a possible premature end to David Alaba’s career or new knee pain are unfounded.

Alaba’s recovery is on track; player, doctors, [and] fitness coaches are content with the healing process.

He concluded by stating:

Alaba is following his recovery plan and feeling better.

The former Bayern Munich defender joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2021. He has played 102 games for the club, scoring five goals and providing nine assists. Alaba’s contract with the Spanish and European champions runs until June 2026.
