A father, son, and stepdad have all achieved their first holes-in-one in the same month!
After watching The Open at Royal Troon in July, Carl Ham-Howes (49) and Lewis Ham-Howes (18) were inspired to play some quality golf. Both members at La Moye in Jersey, they stayed at Cameron House, Loch Lomond, and played The Wee Demon, a challenging nine-hole course on the loch.
Carl hit his hole-in-one on the 17th hole, a 151-yard par 3, with a 6-iron. Having played golf for 36 years, he had never come close before, making this moment special for the 20.3-handicapper.
Just three weeks later, Lewis’ stepfather, Paul Soares (46), also achieved his first ace at the 5th hole, a 134-yard par 3, during a local club competition at St Clements in Jersey.
Ironically, Lewis predicted both Carl and Paul’s holes-in-one before achieving his own at the par-4 4th hole, 275 yards away during the Jersey Golf Junior Festival.
An England Golf spokesperson mentioned the rarity of hole-in-ones for amateur golfers, emphasizing the remarkable achievements of Carl, Paul, and Lewis in achieving their first holes-in-one within a month.
