If a quarterback’s physique played a significant role in winning, Lamar Jackson would by now have hoisted multiple Lombardi Trophies and Patrick Mahomes would be bagging groceries.
It does not, of course, but it is still interesting to note when a veteran upped his exercise routine and put on pounds of muscle.
That is the case with new Atlanta Falcons acquisition Kirk Cousins, who showed up to minicamp ripped.
NFL Rumors posted a photo of the former Minnesota Viking showing an impressively toned upper body, proving the signal caller did not spend the offseason resting on his new pile of cash.

And it’s an impressive pile.
After taking his game to the South, the 35-year-old Cousins signed a staggering four-year, $180 million deal with $90 million guaranteed, per Spotrac.
No one forgets that Cousins is returning from a season-ending Achilles injury, but he has been remarkably healthy throughout his 11-year career.
And now he brings a buff physique to the playing field.
How this will translate to success in Atlanta is anybody’s guess, but Cousins enters a situation where he has an impressive stockpile of offensive weapons to utilize.
From last season’s first-round selection Bijan Robinson carrying the football, to the underachieving Kyle Pitts at tight end, the team is far from devoid of scoring talent.
And management passed on Bill Belichick to bring in defensive-minded Raheem Morris to lead the charges.
With an obvious upgrade at quarterback and a new emphasis on stopping the other team, 2024 promises to be an interesting year in Atlanta.
