During the 2022 season, the New York Giants were the talk of the NFL, with then-new head coach Brian Daboll being able to right the ship and change the culture of the storied franchise.

The Giants went on to clinch a playoff spot and pulled off an impressive upset over the Minnesota Vikings in the postseason, while Daboll took home NFL Coach of the Year honors.

Unfortunately, the team’s newfound success didn’t last all that long, with New York coming back down to earth during the 2023 campaign, as the Giants couldn’t figure out how to put it together and finished the season with a disappointing record of 6-11.

With the NFL season now officially over for the Giants, the team has a lot to do during the offseason in order to get back on track as one of the better teams in the NFC, but they’ll have to do it without defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.

According to Pat Leonard of NY Daily News Sports, Martindale has resigned after the forgettable 2023 NFL season, making him a hot commodity on the open market for teams looking for an upgrade defensively.

Here are some fan reactions to Martindale resigning as the defensive coordinator of the Giants:

Even though the Giants do have more significant issues to attend to, with the quarterback position potentially being a major area of concern moving forward as it appears that Daniel Jones can’t cut it in New York, things have now gotten that much more challenging for the team’s brass.

It’ll be interesting to see what moves the Giants make during the offseason and whether this team can get back on track with Daboll leading the way.
