For years, the Chicago Bears have struggled to get off the ground and build a team that consistently wins, and they have lacked a great quarterback for many decades.

But those days are likely over now.

As just about everyone expected, they took University of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft, and it seems to herald the start of a new era for the Bears and Chicago sports in general.

Needless to say, fans are excited.

However, there are a number of fans who feel he isn’t all that and that he’ll even turn out to be a bust.

Most people consider Williams to be a generational prospect, and he has even talked about leaving a legacy akin to that of Michael Jordan, whom many consider to be the greatest NBA player ever.

He started his college career at the University of Oklahoma, but he transferred to USC for the 2022 season, and that is where he began to emerge.

He threw for 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns that season, and last year, he had 3,333 passing yards and 30 passing touchdowns.

Williams also has some dual-threat ability, as evidenced by his 27 rushing touchdowns in his three years in the NCAA.

This is an exciting time to be a Bears fan — they’re adding Williams to an offense that already includes two studs at wide receiver in DJ Moore and Keenan Allen, and they also have a young, up-and-coming defense.

Many playoff wins could be upcoming for them in the years to come.
