The Minnesota Vikings have arguably been the biggest surprise so far during the 2024 NFL season as they’ve managed to compile a 3-0 record and are on their way to a fourth consecutive win as they lead the Green Bay Packers.
The Vikings came into the season as a question mark because of their quarterback situation.
Minnesota drafted J.J. McCarthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but the rookie won’t suit up this season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
Instead, the Vikings will be leaning on Sam Darnold who looks like a completely different player manning the offense for head coach Kevin O’Connell.
Darnold has played for several teams throughout his career, but finally looks like he’s making good on his draft pedigree as he’s been completely in control under center for Minnesota.
Darnold has been able to make clutch plays, and his recent touchdowns against the Packers had analysts and fans talking.
In the first clip, Darnold launches a ball in the end zone to Jordan Addison who comes down with the grab, and later hits Justin Jefferson on an easy route for another score.
The last video shows Darnold hitting his tight end on an easy pass for his third touchdown of the day, giving him a league-leading 10th passing touchdown.
At this point, it’s fair to start believing in Darnold as a legitimate starting quarterback in the league as he’s shown good command of the offense and the Vikings should now be considered a real playoff threat.
