Leeds United experienced a significant defeat against Arsenal in their recent Premier League match, leading manager Daniel Farke to express disappointment with goalkeeper Karl Darlow’s performance.
The second goal for Arsenal came from a corner delivered by Noni Madueke, which resulted in Darlow scoring an own goal.
Post-match, Farke stated that his players should have defended set pieces more effectively and highlighted that the own goal was particularly frustrating in an already challenging match.
Farke comments on Darlow’s mistake
Farke mentioned (h/t Leeds Press): “I wouldn’t give too much credit to Arsenal for that goal; we should have defended the set-piece situation better, as not a single Arsenal player was near.”
He continued, “Ideally, we should have limited their set pieces in the first half to make things easier for us, but there’s no excuse for allowing an own goal.”
Leeds must address goalkeeping concerns

The goalkeeping situation at Leeds United has raised concerns. The club brought in Lucas Perri over the summer, yet the Brazilian has failed to impress. Darlow was given a chance to secure the number one spot, but his performances have suggested he may not meet the standards required in the Premier League.
Darlow was previously rumored to be leaving the club in January.
It will be crucial for Leeds United to assess their current goalkeeper options as they aim for Premier League survival this season. Upgrading the goalkeeping department will be a priority during the summer transfer window, as securing a reliable presence in goal is essential for defensive stability.
As the team battles for their top-flight status, it remains uncertain if Perri and Darlow can improve their performance levels in the upcoming weeks to help the team avoid relegation. Mistakes from goalkeepers cannot be afforded in their current situation.
